How online maths tuition works

Lessons start with an assessment rather than with whatever school covered this week. That way every hour goes on the topics that are actually costing marks.

  1. Book a free assessment

Use the booking form, WhatsApp or email. Saba replies within one working day to arrange a 30‑minute video call at a time that suits you.

  2. The assessment call

Your child works through a few short questions at their level, talking through their thinking. The aim is to see where the reasoning breaks down, which tells us far more than a score.

  3. Your written plan

Every topic in the course is marked secure, shaky or not yet met, with a suggested order to tackle them. It's yours to keep, whether or not you go on to book lessons.

Weekly lessons

Most pupils have one hour a week at a regular time. Each lesson works through the next topics on the plan: explanation first, then exam-style questions of increasing difficulty, with your child doing the writing.

Between lessons there is a short piece of work, usually past-paper questions on that week's topic. It's marked against the official Qualifications Scotland marking instructions, so your child learns exactly what earns each mark.

Closer to prelims and the final exam, lessons move to timed papers. Some pupils add a second weekly lesson from March.

What you need

  • A laptop, desktop or tablet with a camera and microphone.
  • A quiet space and a reliable internet connection.
  • Paper, a pen and a calculator (a scientific calculator for National 5 and Higher).
  • Optional: a stylus or graphics tablet for writing on the shared whiteboard.

For pupils under 16, a parent or carer should be at home during lessons.

Every lesson includes

  • One hour of one-to-one teaching on the topics from your plan
  • Exam-style questions matched to your course
  • Work set between lessons, marked against the official marking instructions
  • A short note to parents: what was covered, what was set, what comes next
