More courses

Alongside National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Maths, Saba teaches these courses one-to-one online. Every course starts with the same free 30‑minute assessment.

Higher Applications of Maths

£45 an hour

Higher Applications of Mathematics is the Scottish course built around statistics, finance and mathematical modelling, rather than the calculus of Higher Maths. It suits pupils heading for business, social science, life sciences or apprenticeships.

Lessons cover statistical analysis and interpretation, financial calculations, modelling with spreadsheets, and the clear written explanations the course rewards.

GCSE Maths

£40 an hour

Foundation and Higher tier, for the major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel and OCR). Moving from grade 3 to a secure 4 or 5 is a different job from moving from 7 to 9, and lessons are planned around which one you need.

Useful for pupils in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and for families who have moved to Scotland partway through a GCSE course. See how Scottish qualifications compare with GCSEs and A levels.

IB Maths

£55 an hour

Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, at both Standard and Higher Level. Lessons cover the content and paper technique for each paper.

Saba can also guide the planning of the mathematical exploration, within the IB's rules on what a tutor can and can't do. The work itself has to be the student's own.

Higher and Advanced Higher Physics

£45 an hour

Focused on the mathematical core of the courses and on Our Dynamic Universe, which overlaps directly with Saba's research in cosmology: dark energy, cosmic expansion and Hubble's law.

Lessons cover calculations, rearranging relationships, uncertainties and exam questions. Practical work, the Higher assignment and the Advanced Higher project are not covered.

University maths and adult learners

£60 an hour

First-year university mathematics: calculus, linear algebra, an introduction to analysis, and the skill few people are taught directly, which is how to read and write a proof.

Also for adults returning to maths, for example before a university access course, a teaching qualification or a career change.
